MULTI PLATE CLUTCH

Image
MAIN PARTS 1. FLY WHEEL 2. CLUTCH PLATES 3. SPIGOT 4. PRESSURE PLATE 5. CLUTCH SPRING 6. CLUTCH SHAFT CONSTRUCTION In this type of clutch, two or more clutch discs are used to increase the frictional area. The pressure plates and clutch plates are alternatively arranged on the clutch shaft and compressed by a number of pressure springs. These clutches may be dry or wet. Also the clutch plates are placed in between fly wheel and pressure plate . WORKING The clutch is always in engage condition, when the driver press the clutch pedal the pressure plate moves opposite direction of the forces applied by the pressure spring. It causes to make a gap between clutch plates and fly wheel. So the power from the engine can't be transmit at this time. This condition of clutch is known as clutch disengage.     When the driver releases the clutch pedal, the compressed clutch spring push the clutch plates to the flywheel through the pressure plate. So the clutch plates ro...
