MULTI PLATE CLUTCH

MAIN PARTS 1. FLY WHEEL 2. CLUTCH PLATES 3. SPIGOT 4. PRESSURE PLATE 5. CLUTCH SPRING 6. CLUTCH SHAFT CONSTRUCTION In this type of clutch, two or more clutch discs are used to increase the frictional area. The pressure plates and clutch plates are alternatively arranged on the clutch shaft and compressed by a number of pressure springs. These clutches may be dry or wet. Also the clutch plates are placed in between fly wheel and pressure plate . WORKING The clutch is always in engage condition, when the driver press the clutch pedal the pressure plate moves opposite direction of the forces applied by the pressure spring. It causes to make a gap between clutch plates and fly wheel. So the power from the engine can't be transmit at this time. This condition of clutch is known as clutch disengage.     When the driver releases the clutch pedal, the compressed clutch spring push the clutch plates to the flywheel through the pressure plate. So the clutch plates ro...

SEMI CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH

SEMI CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH MAIN PARTS 1. FLY WHEEL 2. CLUTCH PLATE 3. PRESSURE PLATE 4. CENTRIFUGAL WEIGHT 5. LEVER 6. CLUTCH SPRING 7. CLUTCH SHAFT CONSTRUCTION This types of clutch is commonly used in heavy duty vehicles. Centrifugal force is used to keep the clutch in the engaged position at the engine r.p.m is high to avoid the clutch slippage. It operated automatically depending upon  the engine speed. The lever with centrifugal weight and clutch spring is placed back side of the pressure plate. Also the clutch plate is placed in between fly wheel and pressure plate. WORKING When the engine is working, the clutch spring helps the clutch in engage position. If the engine speed increases the centrifugal weights fly off due to the centrifugal force. The lever on the weight presses the pressure plate and clutch plate on the flywheel. Which assists in preventing slippage of the driven plate.

DIAPHRAGM CLUTCH

MAIN PARTS 1. Fly wheel 2. Clutch plate 3. Pressure plate 4. Diaphragm spring 5. clutch shaft 6. Throwout bearing 7. Pivot 8. Clutch cover. CONSTRUCTION : Different parts of diaphragm clutch are arranged in the order for its proper working. The most important part of diaphragm clutch is diaphragm spring which is used to apply the recommended pressure to the pressure plate. There are some other parts also which helps in proper functioning of clutch like flywheel, pressure plate, thrust bearing, hub and mechanism for engaging and disengaging of clutch. The clutch plate move axially in the driven shaft and is attached with the hub between the flywheel and pressure plate. It is must in a clutch disc to have both side friction lining because it is mounted between the flywheel and pressure plate. In the clutch, friction is responsible for the torque transmission. The pressure plate is attached with the flywheel and diaphragm springs. The main function of pressure plate is to help clutch pl...

CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH

MAIN PARTS 1. Fly wheel 2. Clutch plate 3. Clutch shaft 4. Pressure plate 5. Clutch spring 6. Bell crank lever 7. Centrifugal weight 8. Crank shaft CONSTRUCTION In this type of clutch, centrifugal force is used to keep the clutch in the engaged position. It is operated automatically depending upon the engine speed. It has a fly wheel, clutch shaft, clutch plate, pressure plate, bell crank lever and a centrifugal weight. The bell crank lever is fitted in to the pressure plate with the help of a lever is called bell crank lever. WORKING A simple diagram of a centrifugal clutch is shown in the above figure. When the engine speed increases, the centrifugal weight (A) fly off due to the centrifugal force. At the same time bell crank lever (B) presses the pressure plate(C) and the clutch plate (D) on the flywheel against the springs(G). This makes the clutch engaged. The torsion of spring (G) is designed for disengage the clutch below 500 r.p.m. So the power can't be transmit...

SINGLE PLATE CLUTCH

SINGLE PLATE FRICTION CLUTCH Clutch is a mechanism, which is used to connect and disconnect the transmission from engine. It placed in between engine and gear box. MAIN PARTS : 1. Fly wheel 2. Return spring 3. Friction pad 4. Pressure plate 5. Clutch plate 6. Clutch fork 7. Pilot bearing 8. Clutch shaft CONSTRUCTION The above figure shows the simple diagram of a single plate clutch. The clutch plate is placed in between the flywheel and pressure plate. Both sides of clutch plate surfaces are covered with friction pad. It reduces the wear and tear of clutch plate. A pressure plate is placed just behind the clutch plate and it press the clutch plate in the direction of fly wheel with the help of a compressed return spring. The clutch shaft is made with external splines for the ease movement of clutch plate through it. Clutch plate is also known as clutch disc. A pilot bearing is placed in the gap between clutch shaft and fly wheel. Also the pressure plate mechanism carries th...

CONE CLUTCH

CONE CLUUTCH Clutch is a mechanism, which is used to connect and disconnect the transmission from engine. It placed in between engine and gear box. MAIN PARTS 1. Male cone 2. Female cone 3. Return spring 4. Clutch shaft 5.Friction pad CONSTRUCTION:      A simple diagram of a cone clutch is shown in the above figure. It consists of a male cone, female cone, a return spring and a clutch shaft. The female cone is attached with the fly wheel, And the pressure spring is pressed the male cone against the female cone. The spring is placed just behind he male cone. The friction lining is placed the outer surface of male cone to reduce the wear and tear while clutch engaging and disengaging. The clutch shaft is also connected with gear box and male cone. WORKING PRINCIPLE      When the driver press the clutch pedal, the linkages moves the male cone against the pressure spring or away from the female cone through a thrust bearing, so the spring is become comp...
