HAND BRAKE / PARKING BRAKE Hand or parking brakes operate independently of standard foot brakes. Such brakes are used on slopes and other parking and other emergency situations. The same brake shoes used for running foot brakes are used for parking brakes. Special shoes are used for parking brakes on some types of vehicles Mechanical type brakes are used as hand brakes.
