VACUUM OPERATION IN CLUTCH / VACUUM CLUTCH
MAIN PARTS 1. Vacuum cylinder 2. Solinoid switch 3. Reservoir 4. Non return valve 5. Battery CONSTRUCTION Such clutches are operated using the low pressure generated in the inlet manifold of the vacuum operation engine. Its main components are a vacuum cylinder with a piston, a solenoid-operated valve, a reservoir and a non-return valve. The reservoir is connected to the engine inlet manifold via a non return valve. The vacuum cylinder is connected to the reservoir by a solenoid valve. WORKING When the switch provided on the gear lever is operated the connection between the solenoid and the battery and the valve is activated. Normally the switch will be in the off position provided in the gear lever. Due to this the connection between the solenoid and the battery is disconnected and the valve is in its low position. At this time atmospheric pressure will be felt on both sides of the piston in the reservoir. The switch turns on when the lever is moved to shift gears and conn...
