TO MAKE A HEXAGON FROM A ROUND - 07

TOOLS REQUIRED

1. VERNIER HEIGHT GAUGE
2. DIVIDER & STEEL RULE
3. SCRIBER & DOT PUNCH
4. BALL PEEN HAMMER
5. 12" BASTARD FLAT FILE
6. 6" FLAT SMOOTH FILE
7. VERNIER CALIPER

MATERIAL REQUIRED

1. Dia. 45 x 5 M.S ROD
2. MARKING BLUE
3. CLEANING BRUSH
4. COTTON WASTE

PROCEDURE

1. MARK THE VERTICAL AND HORIZONTAL CENTER LINES OF GIVEN WORK PIECE BY USING VERNIER HEIGHT GAUGE.

2.  THEN DRAW A HEXAGON IN THE SURFACE OF WORK PIECE BY USING A DIVIDER, SCRIBER AND STEEL RULE. ALSO APPLY THE MARKING BLUE IN TO THE SURFACE.

3. PUNCH THE HEXAGON WITH THE HELP OF A PUNCH AND HAMMER.

4. AFTER PUNCHING HOLD THE JOB ON THE BENCH VICE TIGHTLY. THEN REMOVE THE UNWANTED AREA BY FILING.

5. AT FIRST 12" BASTARD FLAT FILE IS USED TO REMOVE LARGE AMOUNT OF MATERIAL.

6. THE EXCESS MATERIAL (LESS AMOUNT) WAS REMOVED BY FILING USING A 6" FLAT SMOOTH FILE.

7. MAINTAIN FACE TO FACE DISTANCE OF HEXAGON AT 39mm. IT IS CHECKED BY USING A VERNIER CALIPER.

8. AFTER COMPLETION, DE BURR ALL EDGES AND SUBMITTED FOR INSPECTION.

RESULT

MAKING OF HEXAGON FROM A ROUND IS DONE SUCCESSFULLY AS PER THE GIVEN DRAWING.

CENTRIFUGAL CLUTCH

MAIN PARTS 1. Fly wheel 2. Clutch plate 3. Clutch shaft 4. Pressure plate 5. Clutch spring 6. Bell crank lever 7. Centrifugal weight 8. Crank shaft CONSTRUCTION In this type of clutch, centrifugal force is used to keep the clutch in the engaged position. It is operated automatically depending upon the engine speed. It has a fly wheel, clutch shaft, clutch plate, pressure plate, bell crank lever and a centrifugal weight. The bell crank lever is fitted in to the pressure plate with the help of a lever is called bell crank lever. WORKING A simple diagram of a centrifugal clutch is shown in the above figure. When the engine speed increases, the centrifugal weight (A) fly off due to the centrifugal force. At the same time bell crank lever (B) presses the pressure plate(C) and the clutch plate (D) on the flywheel against the springs(G). This makes the clutch engaged. The torsion of spring (G) is designed for disengage the clutch below 500 r.p.m. So the power can't be transmit...

FOUR STROKE DIESEL ENGINE / COMPRESSION IGNITION (CI) ENGINE

FOUR STROKE DIESEL ENGINE Constructional details A four stroke diesel engine consists of a cylinder with its one end fitted with a cover and the other end left open. The cover is provided with the inlet and exhaust valves. These inlet and exhaust valves are opened and closed by mechanically operated cams. The fuel injector is fitted at the top of the cover to atomize the fuel. A piston carrying rings reciprocates inside the cylinder. The piston is connected to the crankshaft through a connecting rod and crank. It converts the reciprocating motion of the piston into rotary motion. WORKING Suction or intake stroke Suction stroke starts when the piston is at the top dead centre and about to move downwards. At that time, the inlet valve is opened and exhaust valve is closed. Due to the downward movement of the pisto, partial vaccum is created inside the cylinder. (i.e. the volume in the cylinder increases while the Pressure decreases). Due to the pressure difference between the...
