WORM AND WHEEL STEERING GEARBOX

The above figure shows the simple diagram of a worm and wheel steering gear box. It have a steering shaft, worm, wheel and a drop arm. One end of the steering shaft having a thread called worm. Other end of steering shaft is also connected to the steering wheel. The worm is meshed with the gears on the worm wheel. The drop arm is rigidly connected to worm wheel, so when the worm wheel rotates the drop arm convets rotational motion to reciprocating motion. When the driver turns the steering wheel, also the wheel starts to rotate with the help of worm attached with the steering shaft. So the circular motion is converted into up and dowm motion.
Some times a sector is used instead of worm wheel is called worm and sector steering gearbox.

ഒരു വേം ആന്റ് വീൽ സ്റ്റിയറിങ്ങ് ഗിയർബോക്സിന്റെ ചിത്രമാണ് മുകളിൽ നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. സ്റ്റിയറിങ്ങ് വീൽ തിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ ഷാഫ്റ്റിൽ നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്ന വേം തിരിയുന്നു. വേം, വീലുമായി ഇണക്കി നിർത്തിയി രിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ വീലും ഇതിനൊപ്പം തിരിയുന്നു. വീലിന്റെ ഷാഫ്റ്റിലായി ഡ്രോപ്പ് ആം ദൃഢമായി ഉറപ്പിച്ച് നിർത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇക്കാരണത്താൽ വീൽ തിരിയുന്നതോടൊപ്പം ഡ്രോപ്പ് ആം മുൻപിലേക്കോ പുറകിലേക്കോ ചലിക്കുന്നു. ഡ്രോപ്പ് ആമിന്റെ ഈ ചലനം ലിങ്ക് റോഡ് വഴി സ്റ്റിയറിങ്ങ് ആമിൽ എത്തുകയും സ്റ്റബ് ആക്സിലിനെ കിങ്ങ് പിൻ കേന്ദ്രീകരിച്ച് തിരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.

ചിലതരം ഗിയർബോക്സുകളിൽ വീലുകളെ ഒഴിവാക്കി, വീലുക ളുടെ ഒരു ഭാഗം മാത്രമായ സെക്ടറുകൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ട്. ഇത്തരം ഗിയർ ബോക്സകളെ വേം & സെക്ടർഗിയർ ബോക്സ് എന്ന് അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു.

  AIM : Head light circuit TOOLS & MATERIALS REQUIRED : 1. Wire striper 2. Combination plier 3. Screw driver (+,-) 4. Wire(required) 5. Head light switch 6. Dipper switch 7. Relay - 6 leg 8. Insulation tape 9. Battery 12v 10. Head lamp 12v Diagram PROCEDURE 1. ബാറ്ററിയുടെ +ve ടെർമിനലിൽ നിന്നും fuse വഴി relay യിലേക്കും head light സ്വിച്ചിലേക്കും red wire ഉപയോഗിച്ച് connect ചെയ്യുക. 2. Head light സ്വിച്ചിൽ നിന്നും dipper സ്വിച്ചിന്റെ center point ലേക്ക് red wire ഉപയോഗിച്ച് connect ചെയ്യുക. 3. Relay യുടെ dim, bright connection യഥാക്രമം dipper switch ന്റെ Low, High ബിം പോയിന്റിലേക് connect ചെയ്യുക. 4. അതിനുശേഷം Head light ൽ നിന്നുള്ള loop ചെയ്ത High beam Low beam വയറുകൾ relay യുടെ high, low beam വയറിലേക് ബന്ധിപ്പിക്കുക. 5. Relay യിൽ നിന്നുള്ള -ve ഉം, head light ൽ നിന്നുള്ള -ve ഉം യോചിപ്പിച്ചു battery യുടെ -ve ടെർമിനലിലേക് connect ചെയ്യുക. RESULT HEAD LIGHT CIRCUIT വിജയകരമായി പൂർത്തീകരിച്ചു.
